| this article doesn´t try to deal with the handling characteristics of the YAK - for example the impressive mechanics, or the problem of a rear centre of gravity, no, here we are going to describe the authors experience of coming across one of these wonders on what used to be a former russian military aerodrome. east of moscow is where this story starts, in the hills just before a great forest. a handful of old hangers dot the airbase, along with a few weathered containers and living quarters. rusting engines lie silently in the grass - but in the middle of this stood a gleaming yak52. | ||||||||||||
